The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) is seeking your input on two items. As a result of House and Senate Bills (HB, SB) passed during the 82nd and 83rd Legislative Sessions, the TCEQ must develop rules about:
1) Setting standards for the installation of fire hydrants and establishing flow standards to ensure water for fire protection, and
2) How public utilities and their water service providers give notice to TCEQ when their available water amount will last less than 180 days.
These are both part of the TCEQ rulemaking project (HB 1814 (82nd R.S.) and HB 252, HB 1973, and SB 1086: Drought and Fire Flow / Rule Project No. 2013-047-290-OW).
