The purpose of this meeting is to update stakeholders about water quality monitoring activities; share an overview of the water quality data observations to date; and discuss plans for the near future, including a watershed survey this summer.

Houston-Galveston Area: Annual Meeting of the Bacteria Implementation Group

Everyone is welcome to attend this meeting of the BIG, which is implementing strategies to protect recreational uses in numerous waterways by reducing bacteria concentrations in them. At this meeting, stakeholders will assess and discuss progress toward meeting the bacteria reduction goals in their TMDL Implementation Plan.

Public Meeting about a Plan to Improve Water Quality in the Colorado River Below E.V. Spence Reservoir
Ballinger City Hall, 700 Railroad Avenue, Ballinger 76821
The purpose of this meeting is to begin forming a stakeholder group that will evaluate progress on the original Implementation Plan approved in 2007 to reduce salts in this segment of the river. Staff members from the Upper Colorado River Authority and the TCEQ will give an overview about progress made so far in improving conditions in the river. Stakeholders and project staff will then discuss the progress and the next steps forward. Stakeholders who participated in developing the plan for this river segment are invited and encouraged to attend, along with anyone interested in joining this effort.

Corpus Christi Beaches: Coordination Committee Meeting

Stakeholder Meeting about a Plan to Protect Recreational Safety in Austin Area Watersheds

At this meeting of the Coordination Committee, stakeholders will discuss progress on developing their plan to reduce bacteria and protect recreational safety in Waller, Walnut, and Shoal creeks and Taylor Slough in the city of Austin. Anyone interested in the project is invited to attend. The stakeholders and TCEQ are developing total maximum daily loads (TMDLs) and an implementation plan (I-Plan), which together will provide the road map for improving water quality.

The goal of this project is to reduce chloride and sulfate in Petronila Creek to make the creek cleaner. At this meeting, stakeholders will review data analyses as well as the results of a study by the Railroad Commission of Texas to address produced water. The goal of this current project is to reduce bacteria levels in parts of the San Jacinto River, making it safer for recreation. The TCEQ and Texas AgriLife are working with stakeholders to develop a plan for the river. At this meeting, project staff will bring stakeholders up to date on progress of the plan and discuss next steps. Everyone interested is encouraged to attend this meeting.
