The following text conforms with the hierarchy of data elements in the FGDC Content Standards for Digital Geospatial Metadata. This GIS layer supersedes all earlier copies, translations or coverages of the Air Quality Monitoring Stations coverage which may have been made by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).

- This layer contains point locations for operating Permitted
Industrial and Hazardous Waste Locations in Texas. Facilities which
store, process, or dispose of hazardous waste (except where such
storage and/or processing is excluded from permit requirements in
accordance with 30 Texas Administrative Code (TAC) Section 335)
must obtain a permit pursuant to the Texas Solid Waste Disposal
Act. The Industrial and Hazardous Waste Permits Section of the TCEQ
maintain a database of these facilities, which is represented
geographically here.
- Level 3 Certification - This layer does not meet the minimum 25 meter agency standard. The layer was certified with known problems that have been documented in the metadata. It is not suitable for high-precision measurement applications.

The GIS Team did a simple evaluation of the site locations using TIGER county boundaries as a reference. Of 224 sites, 19 fell in wrong counties. These will be corrected by IHW staff, however they are included in the current coverage.
