A free workshop on septic systems for residents who live in the Gilleland Creek Watershed in Travis County will be held at the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality on February 28.
“Care and Operation of Your Domestic Septic System” will be led by James Maynard, R.S., of the Lower Colorado River Authority on Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2012, 6:00-7:00 p.m. at the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, 12100 Park 35 Circle, Austin, Texas, 78753, in Building E-201S.
Free parking is available.
This workshop is one component of the Gilleland Creek Implementation Plan which was approved by the TCEQ on Feb. 9, 2011. Implementation plans are flexible tools that governmental and non-governmental agencies use to guide their efforts to restore water bodies to their intended use. Proper operation and maintenance of domestic septic systems, or on-site sewage facilities can prevent the possible bacterial contamination of nearby waterways.
See more information on the Gilleland Creek project.

The meeting is sponsored by the TCEQ, Travis County, the City of Austin, and the LCRA.
