TCEQ approves fines totaling $1,217,777
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality today approved penalties totaling $956,173 against 71 regulated entities for violations of state environmental regulations.
Agreed orders were issued for the following enforcement categories: one agricultural, six air quality, one Edwards Aquifer, two industrial hazardous waste, two industrial waste discharge, six multi-media, six municipal waste discharge, 23 petroleum storage tank, five public water system, and one water quality.
Default orders were issued for the following categories: three air quality; one irrigation licensing; four multi-media; seven petroleum storage tank, of which one was a default and shutdown order; two public water system; and one utility.
Penalties were also assessed in one industrial solid waste/municipal solid waste case following a hearing at the State Office of Administrative Hearings.
In addition, on July 2 and 12, 2013, the executive director approved 91 agreed orders, each $7,500 or less, totaling $261,604.
