TCEQ accepting applications for school bus retrofits

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality announced today that grant applications are now being accepted statewide to retrofit eligible diesel-powered school buses with emissions-reduction technology. This grant opportunity is open to all public and charter schools in Texas that operate one or more diesel-powered school buses.

A total of up to $2 million is available to reimburse school districts for installing pollution-control retrofits on older diesel school buses.

While a school district may apply for any amount of funding, the TCEQ has limited funds and will review applications on a first-come, first-served basis. The deadline for application is Nov. 30.
