TCEQ Approves Fines Totaling $600,639

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality today approved penalties totaling $600,639 against 96 regulated entities for violations of state environmental regulations.
Agreed orders were issued for the following enforcement categories: 10 air quality, three Edwards Aquifer, two industrial or hazardous waste, four industrial waste discharge, three multimedia, two municipal solid waste, 16 municipal waste discharge, 24 petroleum storage tank, three public water system, one underground injection control, two utilities, and two water quality. There were seven field citations.
In addition, default orders were issued for the following categories: Two dry cleaner, two multimedia, two municipal solid waste, three petroleum storage tank, four public water system, one sludge, and one wastewater operator certification.
Penalties were also assessed in two petroleum storage tank cases following hearings at the State Office of Administrative Hearings.
