The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality today approved penalties totaling $494,832 against 34 regulated entities for violations of state environmental regulations.
Agreed orders were issued for the following enforcement categories: Seven air quality, two multimedia, two municipal solid waste, four municipal waste discharge, six petroleum storage tank, six public water system, and one water right.
Default orders were issued for the following enforcement categories: One irrigation licensing, one onsite sewage facility authorization, one petroleum storage tank, two public water system, and one sludge.
Included in the total are fines of $112,750 against Magellan Pipeline Terminals, LP of Harris County, for various air quality violations, noted in investigations conducted July 2010, and October and December 2011.
On July 20 and July 27, the Executive Director approved 131 agreed orders, each $7,500 or less, totaling $286,751.
