TCEQ Approves Fines Totaling $2,873,879

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality today approved penalties totaling $2,851,678 against 48 regulated entities for violations of state environmental regulations.

Agreed orders were issued for the following enforcement categories: ten air quality, one industrial wastewater discharge, one municipal solid waste, four municipal wastewater discharge, nine petroleum storage tank, 13 public water system, three water quality.

Default orders were issued for the following enforcement categories: two landscape irrigator, one multimedia, one municipal solid waste, and three petroleum storage tank.

Included in the total are fines of $2,299,367 against Premcor Refining Group, Inc. in Jefferson County for air emissions violations in 2009, 2011, 2012, and 2013. Of the total, as part of a Supplemental Environmental Project, $1,149,683 will be used to create an environmentally beneficial public park and community garden in Port Arthur.

In addition, on Nov. 29 and Dec. 6, the executive director approved a total of four penalties, totaling $22,201.
