NORM Drinking Water Treatment Residuals Stakeholder Group

Work group concerned with disposal of naturally occurring radioactive materials (NORM) found in residuals from drinking water treatment plants.

The NORM Drinking Water Treatment Residuals Stakeholder Group is a voluntary advisory group created to provide comments from interested persons to TCEQ staff relating to regulation of the management and disposal of certain drinking water treatment residuals (NORM DWTR) through underground injection.

To obtain advice, recommendations and suggestions from affected or interested persons, this advisory group is soliciting comments to address possible rule changes that will be proposed to include new technical standards for the special case of Class I wells injecting certain nonhazardous NORM DWTR into a bedded salt formation.

Participating in the Drinking Water Treatment Residuals Stakeholder Group

The NORM DWTR is open to the public. Anyone who is interested in disposal options for NORM drinking water treatment residual related issues may attend and participate in NORM DWTR meetings.
