Waste Record Keeping
Guidelines and rules for keeping records about waste.
Guidelines to follow:
- Records must be kept for at least three (3) years from the due date of the report.
- Records can be kept in any format but they must be easy to retrieve and copy.
- Remember that the retention period may be extended by the TCEQ Executive Director for enforcement actions.
- Although not specifically required, it is a good idea to have a backup copy of all records.
Record keeping is required by Title 30 Texas Administrative Code, Chapter 335 in the following sections:
- Generators: 30 TAC, Section 335.9

- Manifesting: 30 TAC, Section 335.10

- Waste Shipments: 30 TAC, Section 335.13

- Transporters: 30 TAC, Section 335.14

- Receivers: 30 TAC, Section 335.15
