Hazardous Waste Activities That Require Notifying the TCEQ

Activities that are exempt from permitting but trigger a requirement to notify TCEQ at least 90 days before beginning the activity.

Activities That Require Notifying the TCEQ

Facilities that are exempt from permitting requirements but still need to notify the TCEQ at least 90 days before beginning an activity fall into 6 general groups:

Examples of Information to Put in the Notification Sent to the TCEQ

  • Name of facility where the unit will be located
  • Facility location
  • TCEQ industrial solid waste registration number
  • Contact person name, address, and phone number
  • Type of unit
  • Location of unit at the facility
  • Unit design information
  • Description of type and amount of waste to be managed in the unit
  • Description of daily operations of unit
  • Inspections of unit (frequency and items to be inspected)
  • Description of how unit will be closed
