Stakeholder Meeting: Modification of Scrap Tire Rules
A stakeholder meeting on a proposed modification of rules on
scrap tires occured on Dec. 15, 2008. The meeting allowed for
public discussion of proposals to amend portions of
30 TAC Chapter 328, Subchapter F,
to require applications for
land-reclamation projects using tires and scrap-tire facilities to
allow for increased levels of coordination with the local
government authority and fire marshal. Specifically, applicants may
have to document of written approval from local government as a
prerequisite to obtaining an authorization from the TCEQ.
About the Meeting
The stakeholder meeting was an informal meeting open to any interested person. Notification was sent to specific groups which TCEQ personnel determined may have an interest in this meeting. Spoken and written comments were accepted by the TCEQ during the stakeholder meeting. Written comments were also accepted during the comment period. The meeting was webcast. No other stakeholder meetings are planned at this time.
