Data Considerations for the Air Pollutant Watch List
Types of data used by the TCEQ in adding an area to, or removing it from, the Air Pollutant Watch List.
Monitoring data or investigation results are necessary for evaluating the potential for health and welfare concerns. In order for an area to be added or removed from the Air Pollutant Watch List, the TCEQ uses one or more of the following types of data:
- Validated data from network monitoring locations in the area of concern.
- Data from mobile monitoring efforts previously conducted in the area of concern.
- Any additional monitoring data, such as:
- Data from validated laboratory analysis results (e.g., ACL reports) from sampling conducted in the area of concern. The TCEQ's Toxicology Division maintains records of such analyses and all subsequent reviews of health effects.
- TCEQ regional investigation results.
- Validated data from a NELAC accredited laboratory through TCEQ submitted from interested parties for review by the Toxicology Division.
- Other data considerations:
- Magnitude and frequency of any exceedance(s) of regulatory values
- Source-determination analyses
- Trend analyses (e.g., seasonal emissions)
- Proximity to residential areas and high-traffic roadways
- Designated land use (e.g. commercial-industrial, residential, agricultural)
- Compliance history (e.g., number of odor complaints in the area)
- Emissions Inventory data from facilities
- Pollution prevention efforts
- Toxicology Division's Health Effects Review of Mobile Monitoring
