What is an NPS Project?
A project is an activity with a specific objective to accomplish and a limited schedule to accomplish it. The NPS Program at TCEQ administers projects using funds awarded through Section 319(h) of the federal Clean Water Act. These grant projects implement elements of the state's NPS Management Plan.
How Are NPS Projects Awarded and Funded?
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) annually awards Clean Water Act Section 319(h) grant funds to TCEQ. Most of these funds are used to partially reimburse the cost of projects which are performed by sub-grantees. Sub-grantees may be state agencies, local governments, other subdivisions of the State, and/or nonprofit organizations. These contracts are awarded competitively.
