Caddo Lake: Developing a Watershed Protection Plan

A project to develop a WPP for Caddo Lake.

 

Background

Caddo Lake and some of its tributaries have elevated levels of bacteria, pH, and mercury, and low levels of dissolved oxygen. The Caddo Lake watershed is primarily rural, and has extensive recreational uses that are affected by these water quality concerns.

Project Description

The Northeast Texas Municipal Water District led the development of the Caddo Lake Watershed Protection Plan. The District is making use of multiple watershed models to identify and quantify the sources of bacteria and nutrients in the lake system.
