Training: Texas Watershed Plans
Background
The strategy of the Texas Nonpoint Source Management Program centers around watershed protection plans (WPPs). Most of the program's federal funding is dedicated to developing and implementing WPPs, which provide a prioritized, strategic approach for restoring cleaning up Texas waters and keeping them clean.
Watershed planning and coordination involves complex, specialized tasks ranging from water quality monitoring to watershed modeling to facilitation of representative stakeholder committees—tasks that require specialized training and support.
Project Description
Several training and information-sharing events are being held annually for watershed coordinators and other water quality professionals in Texas. Events include the annual Texas Watershed Planning Short Course, the semi-annual Watershed Coordinator Roundtables, and several specialized training events.
