Public Meeting about a Plan to Protect Recreation in the San Jacinto RiverCalendar
The TCEQ and the H-GAC are hosting three meetings in July to kick off a new project. The goal of this project is to reduce bacteria levels in parts of the San Jacinto River, making it safer for recreation. All stakeholders are invited to get involved in developing the strategy to improve water quality. The meeting is open to everyone.

High levels of bacteria may pose a risk to people who swim or wade in them—activities called “contact recreation” in the state's standards for water quality.
At this meeting, project staff members will present information about the environmental problem in the waterways, discuss the project with stakeholders and get their feedback, and talk about next steps.
