TMDL Projects for Bacteria in Oyster Waters

Current TMDL projects for water bodies where harvesting of oysters is limited or prohibited due to high concentrations of bacteria.

Bacteria from human and animal waste may indicate the presence of disease-causing microorganisms, which pose a threat to public health. People who eat shellfish contaminated with bacteria may be at risk.
