Ramiro Garcia, Jr.

Ramiro Garcia, Jr., was selected as a deputy executive director on April 1, 2020.

Garcia joined the Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission (TNRCC) in October 1994 in the Petroleum Storage Tank (PST) Division where he had previously worked as a Mickey Leland environmental intern during the summer of 1993. He became a team leader in the PST Division in 1996.

In 2000, Garcia transferred to the TNRCC Houston Region Office PST/Stage II Programs where he was an investigator and subsequently a team leader until 2005.

In 2005, Garcia transferred back to the TCEQ central office and worked in the Field Operations Support Division, Air Section, where he focused on air emissions events. In 2007, he became the section manager of the Field Operations Air Support Section.

In 2008, Garcia became the area director for the TCEQ Border/South Central Area, comprised of the following region offices: Austin, San Antonio, El Paso, Laredo, and Harlingen.

In 2012, Garcia became the deputy director of the Office of Compliance and Enforcement, a post he served in until his appointment at a deputy executive director.

Garcia earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from St. Edward’s University, Austin, Texas in May 1994. He is a 2008 graduate of the Governor’s Center, Senior Management Development Program, and a 2014 graduate of the Governor’s Center, Transformative Leadership Program.

Garcia and his wife, Melissa, have a 11-year-old son. Garcia enjoys playing golf, fishing, hunting and staying active to try and keep up with his son.
