23rd Annual Capacity, Management, Operation, and Maintenance (CMOM) Workshop

July 2026—The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 6, Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), Austin Water, and Water Environment Association of Texas (WEAT) are presenting the 23rd Annual Capacity, Management, Operation, and Maintenance (CMOM) Workshop at the Palmer Events Center in Austin on Aug. 24-25, 2026.

Background

Improper maintenance and operation of wastewater collection systems can lead to sanitary sewer overflows (SSOs), which are a serious public health and environmental problem. The CMOM approach outlines an effective system management structure that encourages finding and correcting performance problems in the collection system.

Purpose

This workshop allows staff from TCEQ and EPA to meet with municipal permit holders and discuss examples of strong CMOM practices. Presentations from the workshop will be available for all attendees.

Who Should Attend

The workshop is intended for all municipalities and special districts that manage wastewater collection systems, as well as their operators, engineers, management professionals, consultants, and manufacturers.

Continuing Education

Continuing education units have been requested from TCEQ for wastewater operator license holders. Professional engineers will receive 15 professional development hours, including one ethics hour.
