TCEQ Accepting Nominations for Water Utility Occupational Licensing Advisory Committee Members for Fiscal Year 2021
February 2020 – The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality is currently accepting applications and nominations for appointment to the TCEQ Water Utility Occupational Licensing Advisory Committee (the Committee). TCEQ is seeking a total of seven new members to serve on the Committee beginning on September 1, 2020, for a four-year term.
The Committee membership represents various geographic areas of the state, ethnicities, businesses, governments, associations, and industries. If you have served on this advisory committee or applied in the past, you may do so again. When members' terms expire, the Committee’s representation changes, and individuals with varying backgrounds and geographic locations are needed to replace them.
The objectives of the 13-member committee are: 1) to review training and educational material to promote quality education and training; 2) to review Job Task Analysis exam validations; 3) to advise and assist regarding licensing requirements; 4) to assist with the review of rules, regulations, guidance documents, and policy statements; 5) to represent a diversity of viewpoints; and 6) to promote interaction with outside organizations.
All appointments will be made by the TCEQ commissioners. The Committee meets as needed, usually four times a year. Meetings are held at TCEQ headquarters, located at 12100 Park 35 Circle in Austin, Texas, and last up to four hours. No financial compensation is available. Additional information regarding the Committee is available on the TCEQ website.
Given that committee members are tasked with reviewing exams for all levels of licenses, preference is given to applicants with class A and B water and wastewater operator licenses. Additionally, regular member attendance to committee meetings is essential to the success of the Committee. TCEQ requests that, prior to applying, applicants consult with their employers to determine whether or not their employer supports their potential role in the Committee and that their employer will allow them to devote their time to the Committee’s activities, including traveling to Austin to attend committee meetings.
