TCEQ Adopts Renewal of the Concentrated Animal Feeding Operation General Permit (TXG920000)

July 2019 - On June 26, 2019, TCEQ Commissioners renewed the Concentrated Animal Feeding Operation (CAFO) General Permit, which authorizes the discharge of manure, sludge, and wastewater from a CAFO into or adjacent to water in the state; only during chronic rainfall or catastrophic conditions.

The renewed permit became effective on July 20, 2019. A copy of the permit, fact sheet summarizing the changes to the permit, and response to public comments can be found on TCEQ’s Available Water Quality General Permits webpage.

Permittees will have 180 days to renew their permit coverage. The renewal period is from July 21, 2019 to January 16, 2020. You may submit your Notice of Intent (NOI) using the paper form or electronically through the State of Texas Environmental Electronic Reporting System (STEERS).
