Revised Total Coliform Rule Workshops

The TCEQ is hosting FREE workshops for Public Drinking Water Systems to assist in complying with the Revised Total Coliform Rule (RTCR).

Licensed Drinking Water Operators can receive up to 4.0 CEUs for attending.

The RTCR establishes a maximum contaminant level (MCL) for E. coli and uses E. coli and total coliforms to initiate a “find and fix” approach to prevent fecal contamination from entering the distribution system by identifying sanitary defects and then fixing them. The TCEQ adopted the RTCR at Commission Agenda on March 8, 2017. All public water systems must comply with the RTCR effective March 30, 2016. To find out more, visit the RTCR webpage.

Topics that will be discussed in the workshop include:

  • An Overview of the Rule
  • Sample Siting Plans
  • Level 1 Assessments
  • Level 2 Assessments
  • Public Notice
  • Consumer Confidence Reports
