Pre-Registration Required for All Licensing Exams

Effective September 1, 2019, to take an exam at a training event where TCEQ will be administering exams, you will be required to have your application for a license approved or conditionally approved and be pre-registered for the exam.

Effective September 1, 2019, to take a TCEQ administered exam at a training event, you must meet both of the following criteria:

  • Have an approved or conditionally approved application for the license on file with TCEQ,
  • Be pre-registered for the exam offered at a training event through TCEQ’s Licensing Exam Registration (LEXR) portal.

Note: Applicants who do not meet the above criteria after the effective date will not be allowed to take the exam.

How do I submit my application to get approved or conditionally approved?

Submit the application and payment online using the Online Licensing Electronic Application (OLEA).

We must receive your application, including payment, at least 30 days before the event to allow enough time for processing. If you are requesting conditional approval, you must upload your course registration confirmation with your online application.

What is a conditional approval?

You may receive a conditional approval if all the following is true for you:

  • are only missing one of the required core training courses
  • have no other application deficiencies
  • intend to take the exam immediately following the required training at a location where the TCEQ, or a TCEQ-designated agent, is administering the exams

How do I pre-register for the exam?

If approved or conditionally approved, you must pre-register through LEXR following the instructions on the webpage Register for an Occupational Licensing Exam.

What happens if I do not pre-register?

You will not be allowed to take the exam. No walk-ins allowed.
