The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality is now accepting applications for $20 million in rebates. The Texas Emissions Reduction Plan Rebate Grants Program, a simplified first-come, first-served grant program, provides funds to upgrade or replace on-road heavy-duty diesel vehicles and/or select non-road heavy-duty diesel equipment in eligible areas of the state.

Half of these funds will be used to encourage the repower or replacement of vehicles and equipment damaged or destroyed by Hurricane Harvey with cleaner models. Ten million dollars of the grant funds will be designated for Hurricane Harvey-affected areas. Funding will be set aside for applicants with vehicles or equipment damaged or destroyed by Hurricane Harvey, and for applicants that qualify as a small business, as defined in the TERP Guidelines. Small businesses are encouraged to apply under this program.

Specific information on pre-approved grant amounts for on-road and non-road replacement and repower projects, eligible areas, and application forms are provided on the Rebate Grants Program webpage.

Applications will be accepted until 5:00 p.m. on Feb. 13, 2018 or until all funding is distributed.

The TERP funds the upgrade or replacement of mobile sources of air emissions to reduce ozone levels in areas of the state that are in non-attainment or near non-attainment with National Ambient Air Quality Standards.
