TCEQ Approves Fines Totaling $627,743

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality today approved penalties totaling $554,828 against 27 regulated entities for violations of state environmental regulations.

Agreed orders were issued for the following enforcement categories: one utility certification and rate, three air quality, one industrial hazardous waste, two industrial wastewater discharge, three multimedia, five municipal wastewater discharge, eight petroleum storage tank, three public water system, and one water quality.

Included in the total are fines of $167,401 against Formosa Plastics Corporation in Calhoun County for industrial hazardous waste violations in 2011 through 2014.

In addition, on May 23, the executive director approved a total of 19 penalties, totaling $72,915.
