First annual Autumn Environmental Conference is a success

Thursday, Oct. 11, 2018

Hundreds of people representing the regulated community from around the state are filling Palmer Events Center in Austin on Oct. 9 through 11 for the first annual Autumn Environmental Conference and Expo.

Conference attendees are learning about changes to permitting rules and other regulations through various seminars on waste classification, air permitting, and wastewater/stormwater permitting. The seminars also allow attendees to earn continuing education credits, which are often required to maintain certain professional certifications.

The agency’s new executive director, Toby Baker, took the stage during Tuesday’s luncheon for the keynote address and solidified his commitment to the TCEQ’s mission of protecting the environment while promoting economic growth.

Emily Lindley, the agency’s newest commissioner, delivered the keynote address during Thursday’s luncheon. She took the opportunity to introduce herself and share her thoughts on the direction of the agency.

Another conference is planned for this time next year.
