Take Care of Texas Announces Video Contest Winners

Feb. 20, 2018 - First place winners are Shelby Doroshow, Royse City High School, Royse City and Alexis Wragg, Talkington School for Young Women Leaders, Lubbock

Six students are winners in the annual Take Care of Texas video contest.

Students throughout the state produced 30-second videos showing how Texans can help keep the air and water clean, conserve water and energy, or reduce waste.

Twelve finalists were selected from 220 total entries. The public then voted on those finalists, and the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place standings were decided by a panel of judges made up of TCEQ commissioners, executive staff, and representatives from the contest sponsor.

Winners in grades nine through 12:

1st Place: Shelby Doroshow, Royse City High School, Royse City 

2nd Place: Elizabeth Watson, Vanguard College Preparatory School, Waco

3rd Place: Matthew McKeon, Keller High School, Keller

Winners in grades six through eight:

1st Place: Alexis Wragg, Talkington School for Young Women Leaders, Lubbock

2nd Place: Greyson Blanchard, Celina Junior High School, Celina

3rd Place: Oziel Gonzalez, Trautmann Middle School, Laredo
