Today, Pasadena Refining System was penalized more than $900,000 by the TCEQ for air and water quality violations stemming from failure to prevent unauthorized emissions and failure to comply with effluent limitations. While half of the money will go into the general revenue, the other half will be distributed to authorized projects.

The $250,000 going to H-GAC will be used either to replace or retrofit high-emission buses with newer, lower-emission equipment.
