Caddo Lake: Developing a Watershed Protection Plan
A project to develop a Watershed Protection Plan (WPP) for Caddo Lake in northeast Texas.
Background
Caddo Lake and some of its tributaries have elevated levels of bacteria, pH, and mercury, and low levels of dissolved oxygen. The Caddo Lake watershed is primarily rural and has extensive recreational uses that are affected by these water quality concerns.

Project Description
The Northeast Texas Municipal Water District led the development of the Caddo Lake Watershed Protection Plan to implement activities that are expected to improve water quality in the lake. The District used multiple watershed models to identify and quantify the sources of bacteria and nutrients in the lake system and support development of the WPP.
