Houston-Galveston Area Trash Bash

Once a year, thousands of volunteers gather along Texas waterways to do their part in cleaning up the environment by participating in the largest single-day waterway clean-up in the state.

Background

The Texas Conservation Fund has sponsored, coordinated, and funded the River, Lakes, Bays 'N Bayous Trash Bash event in the Houston-Galveston area for more than 19 years to support regional solid waste and water quality goals.

Project Description

The Houston-Galveston region's annual clean-up takes place at about 17 sites. Staff of this project facilitated the continuation and expansion of waterway clean-up events and included educational displays and training about nonpoint source pollution related to bacteria.
