Nolan Creek: Watershed Based Planning and Assessment
A project that collected water quality data to characterize the creek and provide a basis for developing a watershed protection strategy.
On this page:
Background
Nolan Creek was identified as impaired because of elevated bacteria concentrations in 1996. In 2010, TCEQ determined that water quality standards for this water body should be reviewed before a development of a total maximum daily load (TMDL) was scheduled. Concerns about elevated levels of nitrate and phosphorus were also noted in 2010.

Project Description
Project staff collected and analyzed data about the Nolan Creek watershed, providing the information needed for two of the nine required elements of a watershed plan specified in Appendix C of the current EPA guidelines for receiving federal grant support of watershed protection plans .
