Statewide Training: Texas Watershed Protection Plans

A project to provide training for people involved in developing watershed protection plans.

Background

The strategy of the Texas Nonpoint Source Management Program centers around watershed protection plans (WPPs). Most of the program's federal funding is dedicated to developing and implementing WPPs, which provide a prioritized, strategic approach for restoring Texas waters and keeping them clean.

Watershed planning and coordination involves complex, specialized tasks ranging from water quality monitoring to watershed modeling to facilitation of representative stakeholder committees—tasks that require specialized training and support.
