These Texas Environmental Excellence Awards (TEEA) celebrate the efforts of citizens, communities, businesses, and organizations to preserve and protect the Texas environment. The public may nominate an individual, community, company, or organization for an award. They can also nominate themselves.

More about the Awards

Presented annually by the Governor of Texas and the TCEQ Commissioners, the Texas Environmental Excellence Awards spotlight the state’s highest achievements in environmental preservation and protection. Selected by a Blue Ribbon Committee, the awards recognize outstanding, innovative, environmental programs in nine diverse categories:

Agriculture
Civic/Community
Education
Individual
Innovative Operations/Management
Pollution Prevention
Technical/Technology
Water Conservation
Youth

Since 1993, the TEEA program (funded by registration fees from the TCEQ Environmental Trade Fair and Conference) has honored more than 180 successful environmental projects and efforts.

Selection of Award Winners

In the spring, the Governor’s Blue Ribbon Committee works with TCEQ staff and the Office of the Governor to recommend winners based on a set of award criteria. The committee is composed of leaders in public and private industry with expertise in environmental policy and practices.

Recognition of Award Winners

The TCEQ will host a banquet on May 1, 2013, to honor award winners. Held in Austin as part of the Environmental Trade Fair and Conference, this celebration of environmental achievements is hosted by the Commissioners of the TCEQ, with special recognition from Governor Rick Perry.
