Externship Programs

Kickstart your journey at TCEQ with our externship programs in geoscience, engineering, and environmental science! Our externship programs connect students with TCEQ professionals to provide exposure to a wide variety of career options.

What is an Externship?

You may be familiar with internships, which are long-term professional learning opportunities. Externships, however, are short-term job shadowing experiences.

At TCEQ, our externship programs allow current college or university students to shadow professionals in geoscience, engineering, and environmental science for one day before the start of the semester. Think of it as a direct "pipeline" bringing college graduates and employment opportunities closer together.

Externships have included project and lab demonstrations, career exploration, leadership panels, Q&A sessions, and TCEQ campus tours.

Please note that this is an unpaid opportunity.

  • Gain insight into our organization.
