TCEQ Toll-free Numbers

The TCEQ makes several 800, 888, 877, 866, and 855 phone numbers available for specific information and reporting lines.

Please note that calls cannot be transferred to other areas of the agency from these connections.

The TCEQ does not have a general toll-free number. The main switchboard can be contacted by dialing 512-239-1000.

  • Local Government Assistance:

    Hot line for local governments to obtain information, advice and confidential assistance from the TCEQ. Answered from 8 a.m. to noon and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on business days.

  • Public Participation in the Permitting Process:

    One-stop calling for the general public to inquire about permitting activity within the TCEQ.

  • Small Business Assistance:
    800-447-2827
    Hot line for small businesses to obtain information, advice and confidential assistance from the TCEQ. Answered from 8 a.m. to noon and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on business days.

  • Superfund Community Relations Line:

    Local citizens may call with questions and concerns regarding state and federal superfund sites in their area.

  • Television Recycling:

    Texas residents can call this number to find opportunities to recycle their brand of television and to learn more about the Texas Recycles TVs program.

  • Texas Emissions Reduction Plan (TERP)Program:

    Find out about grants available in selected counties to upgrade or replace heavy-duty vehicles and equipment to improve Texas air quality.

  • Toxicology Information Line:

    Get information about toxicology-related issues, including Texas Water Code 26.408 notices.

  • Vehicle Emissions Testing Hot Line:

    For information about vehicle emissions testing and the vehicle emissions registration denial program.

Reporting Lines:

  • Environmental Complaints Hot Line:

    Texas residents can use this line to report environmental complaints. Calls will be routed automatically to the closest TCEQ regional office. Callers after business hours may leave a recorded message.

  • Fraud Reporting Hot Line:
    877-901-0700
    For use by the public to report allegations of fraud, waste, or abuse related to TCEQ operations.

  • Spill Reporting (24-Hour):
    800-832-8224
    Used to report spills, unpermitted discharges or releases to the environment, and SARA/EPCRA report notices. Supported by several Texas agencies, this line is answered 24 hours a day and serves as the TCEQ spill reporting line during the day and the State Emergency Response Commission (SERC) line at night.

  • Non-Spill Emergencies Hot Line:

    Texas residents can use this line to report environmental emergencies that are not spills. Calls are routed automatically to the closest TCEQ regional office. After business hours, callers may leave a recorded message or be forwarded to an after-hours pager or answering service.

  • Tier II:

    For companies in Texas that submit Tier II reports and have questions about complying with state and federal community right-to-know laws, or Texas residents and local emergency planning and response agencies who have questions or concerns about hazardous chemicals in their communities.

  • Water/Wastewater Homeland Security Threat Hot Line:

    Water and wastewater systems are required to report acts that threaten the ability of their system to provide safe and adequate water and wastewater services. Calls are routed automatically to the closest TCEQ regional office. After business hours, callers may leave a recorded message or may be forwarded to an after-hours pager or answering service.

  • Stephenville Special Project Office:

    Specifically for the Stephenville, Texas area. Used to receive complaints concerning for example, dairy runoff and overflowing ponds. Mandated by the legislature.

  • Watermaster Water Usage Reporting Lines: Used by water rights holders to report in advance water pumping/usage in areas served by a watermaster.
