NPDES Electronic Reporting Rule Update: Concentrated Animal Feeding Operation (CAFO) Annual Report

January 2026—In November, EPA announced an alternative compliance deadline for Phase 2 implementation of the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Electronic Reporting Rule (NPDES eRule). This will extend the reporting deadline for some requirements from Dec. 21, 2025 to Dec. 21, 2028.

This extension covers annual reports for CAFOs. Permittees should continue to submit paper annual reports until the NeT-CAFO tool is available—no later than December 2028.
