Public Comment on Federal Clean Air Act Demonstration for El Paso County

TCEQ is taking public comment on a demonstration showing that El Paso County would have attained the 2015 eight-hour ozone National Ambient Air Quality Standard (NAAQS)Exit the TCEQ by the marginal attainment date of Aug. 3, 2021 “but for” international contributions from neighboring Ciudad Juárez in Mexico. The federal Clean Air Act (FCAA) §179B(b) retrospective demonstration, accessible via the link below, describes the technical analyses that support the TCEQ’s conclusion.

How to Submit a Comment

TCEQ posted this demonstration for written public comment on Friday Dec. 17, 2021. All comments received prior to 5:00 PM Central Standard Time on Jan. 21, 2022 or postmarked by Jan. 21, 2022, will be submitted to the Environmental Protection Agency along with the final demonstration. No public hearing will be held for this action.

Members of the public wishing to submit comments on the demonstration should email them to amda@tceq.texas.gov, with a subject line containing “Federal Clean Air Act §179B Demonstration: El Paso-Las Cruces, Texas-New Mexico Nonattainment Area.”
