Technical Assistance for Public Water Systems: TROT program
The Technical Review and Oversight Team (TROT) protects public health by providing technical assistance to every public water system (PWS), consulting engineers, and internal customers. This assistance includes helping PWSs with source water development, design, treatment, and operations.
Thus, Operating a Public Water System may require Technical Review and Assistance from TROT
To meet its goal, TROT:
- Reviews requests for exceptions to the Rules and Regulations for Public Water Systems
- Provides extensive technical assistance to the general public, PWSs, other TCEQ staff, and other state agencies
- Works with the Texas Optimization Program to help PWSs operate efficiently
- Implements the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Water Treatment Plant Recycling Practices Rule
- Manages parts of the EPA’s Long Term 2 Enhanced Surface Water Treatment Rule (LT2)
