Texas Disposal Systems, BGICO, LLC, Texas Landfill Management, LLC, Creedmoor – Innovative Recycling and Landfill Management Technologies

TEEA 2026 Winner: Technical/Technology

Texas Disposal Systems, Inc. (TDS) is one of the largest independently owned solid waste collection, processing, and disposal companies in the nation. TDS is deeply committed to environmental stewardship and community sustainability, operating fully integrated facilities that combine disposal, recycling, and composting to serve central Texas and beyond. In pursuit of that commitment, TDS employs multiple technological advancements.

The recently commissioned construction and demolition waste (C&D) recycling facility incorporates advanced automation, high throughput sorting systems, and integrated processing lines to streamline waste separation and material recovery. These upgrades allow for the processing of significantly more material with greater accuracy, consistency, and safety. The C&D waste recycling facility is poised to divert tens of thousands of tons of material from landfills annually, not only conserving valuable landfill space, but also protecting natural resources, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and supporting the growing demand for recycled materials in construction, landscaping, and infrastructure projects.

Furthermore, their newest initiative, the BGICO renewable natural gas plant project, demonstrates how innovative technology can transform emissions into renewable energy while setting a new standard for responsible landfill management. This project enhances local air quality by reducing pollutants such as methane, sulfur dioxides, and volatile organic compounds associated with landfill gas flaring. While methane capture at landfills is not new, BGICO’s facility integrates state-of-the-art membranes and compression and purification systems to maximize recovery efficiency and meet strict pipeline standards. The renewable natural gas plant is designed for continuous optimization, with real-time monitoring and automated controls that adjust operations for peak efficiency.
