2015 Ozone NAAQS Transport SIP Modeling - Future Ozone Design Value
Interactive map of future year ozone design values for the 2015 Ozone NAAQS Transport SIP Modeling.
This interactive map shows estimated 2023 future ozone design values (DVf) and component contributions from various emissions sources and regions from the TCEQ's 2015 Ozone NAAQS Transport SIP Modeling.
The component contributions are calculated via CAMx Anthropogenic Precursor Culpability Assessment (APCA) model runs with three emissions categories: biogenic, fires, and anthropogenic, and fourteen emissions source regions: eleven individual states (Texas, Colorado, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Wyoming, Utah, California, Arizona, Nevada, and Oregon), other states in contiguous US, Mexico and Canada, Oceans and other countries.
The future ozone design values are calculated following this procedure:
- Obtain the 3×3-cell maximum value of modeled 2012 base case ozone maximum daily 8-hour averages (MDA8) at each monitoring site and for each episode day.
- Obtain a corresponding modeled 2023 future year MDA8 value from the same 2012 base case MDA8 cell and for each day; modeled 2023 future year MDA8 component contributions are obtained from the same cell and same hour of their future year ozone MDA8.
- Find up to 10 days of highest modeled 2012 base case ozone MDA8 values that are greater than 60 ppb, and their corresponding 2023 future year ozone MDA8 values. Sites with less than 5 days of data are not included in further design value calculations.
- Calculate the Relative Response Factor (RRF) as a ratio of the average of 2023 future year MDA8 values over the average of 2012 base case MDA8 values from up to 10 top days at each site.
- Calculate the estimated 2023 future design value (DVf) by multiplying the RRF by the 2012 baseline ozone design value (DVb) at each site.
- Repeat steps 5 and 6 for each component contribution to the 2023 DVf at each site.
- The data in the table are also available in an MS Excel file .
