Advisory Committee for Water Utility Operator Licensing
Advisory committee that advises the TCEQ on matters related to training and licensing of water and waste water utility operators.
NEW The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) is currently accepting applications and nominations for appointments as members of the TCEQ Water Utility Occupational Licensing Advisory Committee (WUOLAC).
The main objectives of the committee include offering feedback and advice to TCEQ on matters related to the training and licensing of water and wastewater operators; including training and exam materials, rules and other regulatory guidance; and promoting interaction with other industry organizations. Since committee members may assist with reviewing exams for all levels of licenses, preference is given to applicants with class A and B water or wastewater operator licenses.
The committee meets, as needed, up to four times a year. Meetings are held virtually or at the TCEQ offices located at 12100 Park 35 Circle in Austin, Texas, and may last up to three hours. In-person attendance is the preferred method for committee members. No financial compensation is available.
Applications must be received by 5:00 p.m., on March 16, 2026. Members of the Water Utility Operator Licensing Advisory Committee (WUOLAC) advise and assist the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) on matters related to training and licensing of water and wastewater operators.
About the WUOLAC
The Water Utility Operator Licensing Advisory Committee (WUOLAC) is composed of 13 members who are appointed by the commission. The committee membership represents various geographic areas of the state, ethnicity, businesses, governments, associations, and industries. The authority for the committee is found in Title 30 TAC, Chapter 5 . Committee members serve staggered terms.
The objectives of the committee are:
- To review training and educational material to promote quality education and training;
- To advise and assist regarding licensing requirements and to review Job Analysis exam validation;
- To assist with the review of rules, regulations, guidance documents, and policy statements; and
- To represent a diverse community and to promote interaction with outside organizations.
