Facilities that are exempt from permitting requirements but still need to notify the TCEQ at least 90 days before beginning an activity fall into 6 general groups:

Very small quantity generators
Farmers disposing of pesticides
On-site Processes
Types of Treatment Units:
- Elementary neutralization units
- Wastewater treatment units
- Please note that, in accordance with Senate Bill 1281 passed during the 79^th Legislative Session, a commercial industrial solid waste facility discharging into a Publicly Owned Treatment Works is required to obtain a permit as of June 1, 2006.
Certain Waste Management Activities:
- Emergency response cleanup
- Treatability studies
