Who collects this data?

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has developed a network of monitoring sites that spans the entire state of Texas. TCEQ has one of the finest monitoring networks in the nation. The following are partners in the Texas monitoring network:

  • TCEQ - The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality is responsible for overseeing and protecting the state's human and natural resources. The TCEQ maintains and operates the largest number of monitoring stations in the network. The majority of the data is collected at TCEQ monitoring sites.

  • Oth Gov - Other government agencies. Local governments in most of the major metropolitan areas of Texas have historically had their own monitoring programs. Data from these local monitoring programs was collected, verified, and then shipped to the TCEQ. Recently, these networks were combined directly with the TCEQ network. Local agencies collaborating with the TCEQ include:
    • The Alabama-Coushatta Tribe
    • The City of Dallas
    • The City of Houston
    • The City of Laredo Health Department
    • The City of El Paso
    • Ciudad Juarez Health Department
