Class IV Injection Wells

Information about restrictions for Class IV injection wells, which are allowed only in special circumstances involving environmental cleanups.

Class IV injection wells are generally banned by state and federal statutes and rules. However, under TCEQ and EPA rules, a Class IV well may be authorized for use in certain environmental cleanup operations. If you think you qualify for use of a Class IV well for authorized cleanup, you should schedule a meeting with TCEQ to discuss the situation. Applications for Class IV wells will be made by using the Class V injection well authorization forms.

Please feel free to contact the UIC staff in the Radioactive Materials Division if you have questions.
