Industrial and Hazardous Waste Registration and Reporting: Am I Regulated?

Who must register and report for the Industrial and Hazardous Waste Registration and Reporting Program?

The following types of facilities/businesses must obtain a Solid Waste Registration (SWR) through the Industrial and Hazardous Waste Registration and Reporting program:

  • Industrial generators of more than 100 kg of nonhazardous Class 1 waste per month
  • Small-Quantity Generators (SQG) of hazardous waste. (Greater than 100 kg per month)
  • Large-Quantity Generators (LQG) of hazardous waste. (Greater than 1000 kg per month)
  • Transporters of Industrial Class 1 waste or hazardous waste (Registration only. This category has no reporting requirement.)
  • Receivers of Industrial Class 1 waste or hazardous waste from an off-site source. (These facilities often also require a permit through the Industrial and Hazardous Waste Permitting Section.)

If none of the above statements apply to you, read the following regulatory guidance document: Do You Need Industrial or Hazardous Waste Registration Numbers? RG-222.

To register, complete a Notification for Hazardous or Industrial Waste (TCEQ-00002; instructions also available).
